Shelburne police say a Burlington motorcyclist was clocked traveling 100 mph in a 40 mph zone shortly after midnight Thursday.
Police identified the motorcyclist as Adam Blow, 47, of Burlington. Officer Blake Allen was conducting traffic enforcement near Shelburne and Bay roads at about 12:16 AM Aug. 20 when stationary radar recorded Blow’s Suzuki GSX-8R traveling south at 100 mph. Blow pulled over and was issued a speeding ticket in lieu of arrest.
Police said excessive motorcycle speeds have become a recurring problem on Shelburne Road this summer, particularly during evening and nighttime hours. Officers have encountered motorcycles traveling more than 105 mph through the village.
With the school year approaching, police warned that excessive speed substantially increases the risk of crashes and serious injuries to motorists and pedestrians.
