Group plans to counter overreach of federal government
A organization has been formed representing the largest network of former State Legislators. The National Association of Former State Legislators (NAFSL) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization committed to balanced federalism, state sovereignty and representative governance.
The mission of NAFSL is to recruit former state legislators for membership and equip them with the tools and resources necessary to engage and educate state legislators to support and defend the U.S. and their respective State Constitution. It will offer educational programs, conferences, workshops, newsletters, research and personal contacts.
What prompted several Florida legislators to initiate this effort is the increased centralization and overreach of national government that put state sovereignty at risk with Washington asserting more power and leverage over states.
Financial support for NAFSL will be obtained through membership, donations, fundraising and foundation grants. Former legislators can get more information and application at www.nafsl.org.
