Flagger struck by truck on Route 105 in Jay

JAY — A road crew flagger was struck by a pickup truck Wednesday afternoon on Route 105 in Jay and sustained serious injuries, Vermont State Police said.

Renee Orzolek, 49, of Craftsbury was conducting flagging operations for road maintenance near Leavitt Circle at about 3:55 p.m. when she was struck by a 2025 GMC Canyon driven by Colby Currier, 88, of Troy, according to police.

Orzolek was treated at the scene by Newport Ambulance and transported to North Country Hospital.

Her injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.

Currier was not injured.
