The Vermont Legislature wouldn’t agree to cut in half the 30-day (or more) gun purchase waiting period in S30, the gun restrictions bill passed by the Legislature and now awaiting Gov. Phil Scott’s veto decision, Rep. Pat Brennan tells VT GOP Chair Paul Dame on a recent video.

S30 also would make carrying a firearm on hospital property a criminal offense.

Brennan said he was acting on the recommendation of a legislative committee when he proposed a last-minute change to 15 business days. He said he figured it was better than the 30 days the bill now requires gun purchasers to wait if the federal government background check is delayed.

He was turned down, leading him to this conclusion: “it’s a gun-grab.”

“This is just an anti-gun bill,” Brennan said. “They don’t want to make it easy to buy guns.”
