Eric Dow, 33, of Burlington has been jailed following a domestic assault in which he used a broom and a blowtorch, Burlington police say.
Police say that on October 7 at 8:22 PM, officers with the Burlington Police Department responded to a 911 hang-up with an individual screaming in distress in the background.
When officers arrived on scene at a Flynn Avenue address, they could hear a disturbance with an individual screaming from inside the residence.
“Based off the screams, it appeared that the person was in danger and possibly being harmed,” Burlington police said.
Officers announced themselves and tried to enter the residence, but the door was locked. Officers forced entry into the residence and apprehended Dow inside. Dow, armed with a broom and a blowtorch, had restrained then harmed a person, police say. Officers located the victim and the Burlington Fire Department arrived to evaluate the victim. Community Support Liaisons from the BPD also arrived on scene to provide support and assistance.
Dow was taken into custody for 1st degree aggravated domestic assault, unlawful restraint, impeding public officer, and interference with access to emergency services. He was transported to the BPD for processing and lodged at the Northwest State Correctional Facility. A check of Dow’s criminal history shows that he has 1 failure to appear with 4 misdemeanor convictions.
Dow’s Facebook faces shows he is a ‘Former Sales And Leasing Consultant at South Burlington Mazda’ who also has worked at Springfield Cadillac GMC in Springfield, VT. His Linked In page shows he stopped working for Mazda in 2022 and was looking for work.
