Man killed in ATV crash

A 38-year-old man from Corinth was killed Sunday evening in an ATV rollover crash on Turkey Hill Road, according to the Vermont State Police.

Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks responded to the scene at about 5:42 p.m. near the intersection of Turkey Hill Road and Goose Green Road. Police identified the victim as Lorin Burt, 38, of Corinth.

Preliminary investigation indicates Burt was traveling southwest on Turkey Hill Road when he made an abrupt turn on a wet gravel surface, causing the ATV — a 2026 Polaris Sportsman — to overturn. Burt was ejected from the vehicle.

Emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures, but Burt was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The crash remains under investigation.

Two charged in Brownington domestic assault

Two men are facing charges following a reported domestic assault Saturday evening on Hoadley Lane.

According to Vermont State Police, Robert Moore, 54, and Dalton Moore, 24, allegedly caused minor bodily injury to a family member during a physical dispute.

Police say Dalton Moore also damaged two vehicles and violated court-ordered conditions of release. Both men were processed and later released with conditions. They are scheduled to appear in Orleans Criminal Court on April 6.

10 arrested in Barre drug bust

Ten people were arrested and significant quantities of illegal drugs and cash were seized following coordinated law enforcement operations at two Barre residences on April 4, according to local police.

Officers executed search warrants at 16 Averill Street and 6 Hooker Avenue, described as suspected “trap houses,” with assistance from the Vermont Department of Corrections.

Police reported seizing approximately 13.5 grams of crack cocaine, fentanyl, psilocybin mushrooms, assorted pills, and $1,337 in cash. An additional traffic stop tied to the investigation resulted in the seizure of $6,500.

All of the suspects are Washington County residents, except Leatherwood, who is listed as a West Hartford, CT resident.

Charges among the group include possession of cocaine and other narcotics, fentanyl trafficking, dispensing drugs from a dwelling, violation of conditions of release, outstanding warrants, and providing false information to police.

Several defendants were held and cited to appear in Washington Superior Court on April 6, while others were released with citations to appear later in April.
