The Lyndonville Police Department announced today that four individuals arrested in a large-scale drug trafficking investigation have been arraigned in Caledonia Superior Court, with bail set at significant amounts.
The individuals, identified as Kane Quiles (23) of Springfield, MA, Luis Velazquez (23) of Springfield, MA, Toni Lapoint (56) of Sheffield, and Monique Lapoint (32) of Sheffield, were each ordered held at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility on the following bail amounts:
Kane Quiles: $70,000
Luis Velazquez: $80,000
Toni Lapoint: $75,000
Monique Lapoint: $50,000
The arrests stem from a six-month-long investigation led by Officer Daniel Renaudette into drug trafficking activity along the VT Route 122 corridor and the greater Lyndon area. Law enforcement executed a search warrant at 1709 VT Route 122 in Sheffield on March 25, leading to the arrests. Authorities seized a large quantity of suspected fentanyl, other controlled substances, firearms, ledgers, and documents tied to drug distribution.
Additionally, Ryan Stimpson (37) of St. Johnsbury was cited and released on the scene for possession of narcotics. He is scheduled for arraignment on May 5.
The Lyndonville Police Department emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for drug trafficking and extended its appreciation to the Caledonia County Sheriff’s Department, Essex County Sheriff’s Department, Customs & Border Protection Derby Line Port of Entry, and Lyndon Rescue for their assistance.
