A Danville man facing multiple child sexual assault charges is seeking to suppress evidence seized from his home, arguing that police violated his constitutional rights by searching electronic devices without proper authorization, the Caledonian-Record reports.

Keith Olson, 38, is being held without bail on charges including repeated sexual assault of a child, sexual assault of a victim under 13, sexual exploitation of a child, and possession of child sexual abuse material.

Defense attorney Robert Kaplan argued Thursday in Caledonia Superior Court that a December 2025 warrant authorized police to seize electronic devices from Olson’s Walden Hill Road home but failed to specify what information could be searched.

Kaplan called the warrant an unconstitutional general search, violating the Fourth Amendment and Article 11 of the Vermont Constitution. He argued that digital devices contain vast amounts of private information requiring specific limits on police searches.

Deputy State’s Attorney Simon Mayo countered that investigators obtained a second warrant on December 24, specifically authorizing searches for evidence related to the alleged crimes.

Judge Michael Harris gave attorneys until November 15 to submit further arguments before ruling on whether the evidence can be used at trial.
