That burning wood smoke you smelled last night and the haze you saw and felt came from forest forest fires, mostly in western North America.
Vermont could have elevated concentrations of fine particle air pollution today due to wildfires in California, Oregon, Quebec and Western Canada, according to an advisory from the EPA.
“Hazy skies, reduced visibility, and the odor of burning wood is likely as the smoke plumes are transported over the region,” states the advisory.

| ‘(3D) Brass (Knuckle) in Pocket’ – In New Hampshire, police say a Keene man used 3D printed knuckles, similar to brass knuckles, to assault another man last month at the Otter Brook Dam in Roxbury and steal his backpack, the Journal-Opinion reports. Brass knuckles are illegal in New Hampshire, for now. They are also illegal in Vermont. |
GOP candidate endorsed by Green Beret – Republican Congressional candidate for Vermont’s At-Large district Mark Coester has been endorsed by constitutional attorney and retired Lt. Col Green Beret Ivan Raiklin. This endorsement comes after Mark was elected August 13 as the Republican nominee for Congress.
