This curly-headed Berlin snowman is ready for more snow this weekend – but rain and 60 MPH gusts?

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for which Central and Northern Vermont.  Heavy rain, snowmelt, damaging winds, and a flash freeze will present a variety of hazards to the region Thursday night through Saturday.

Wind gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour or more are possible Thursday night into Friday. Moderate to heavy rain and snowmelt will likely produce sharp river rises and flooding Friday night into Saturday. Minor to moderate river flooding is possible.

A flash freeze after the rain event could present widespread travel concerns for Friday night into Saturday.

Vermont Emergency Management and other state agencies are monitoring the storm and preparing to provide resource assistance to communities and utilities should it be needed.

Vermonters are highly encouraged to prepare for the storm and exercise caution during and after the event.
