Woman arrested for throwing knife at downtown street corner

A Burlington woman with 29 court order violations was arrested Tuesday morning for throwing a knife. 

On November 5, at about 9:36 AM, BPD responded to the area of Church Street and College Street for a report of a female throwing a knife – a description of the female was provided.

 Upon arrival, officers located and detained the female suspect, later identified as Victoria Sherman, 33, of Burlington. She was seen with a knife in her hand and threw a knife attempting to cause bodily injury. Dispatch advised officers that Sherman has conditions of release not to have or use any firearms or dangerous/deadly weapons – Sherman also has conditions of release not to engage in threatening or violent behavior. Sherman was taken into custody for Aggravated Assault and Violation of Conditions of Release.

A check of Sherman’s criminal history showed 10 failures to appear, 29 violation of court orders or condition charges with 4 convictions, 4 felony charges, 77 misdemeanor charges with 14 convictions, 13 assaultive crime charges with 4 convictions, and 1 dangerous/deadly weapon related charge.
