Catamounts. Cinderella. Cardiac Kids.

All are good nicknames for the UVM men’s soccer team, which will play for the national championship tonight against #13 Marshall.

UVM defeated #3 Denver on Friday on penalty kicks to advance to the College Cup Final.

After falling behind in the second half, the Catamounts equalized with less than seven minutes before the end of regulation. After overtime failed to separate the two schools, UVM nailed its first four PKs while Denver missed its last two.

It was the third seeded team the unseeded Catamounts have defeated in the NCAA tournament this year. They will have to beat a fourth to win it all.

Tonight’s game at 8 p.m. will be played in Cary, North Carolina and broadcast on ESPNU or ESPN+.
