A four-year-old girl, not restrained in a car seat, and three other people were ejected from a pickup truck on I-89 Monday afternoon. 

All of the accident victims were transported to the hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. Police say Matthew Hallock, 31, of Montpelier was driving the 2002 Toyota Tundra involved in the rollover crash. All four occupants of the vehicle were transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for suspected serious injuries. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash and the investigation is ongoing.

Inmate dies after ‘medical event’ – May 16 at about 5 pm, Vermont State Police were notified that an inmate from the Southern State Correctional Facility died while at Springfield Hospital in Springfield, VT.  State Police learned that David R. Goldstein, age 56, of Barre City had died.   

Earlier in the day Goldstein had been transported, via ambulance, from the correctional facility to the hospital after suffering from a medical event. Goldstein received medical care while at the hospital but died several hours later.   

Detectives from the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations were notified and responded to the hospital and correctional facility. An autopsy will be performed at the Vermont Office of The Chief Medical Examiner in Burlington to confirm the cause and manner of death.

Federal child porn charges against Barre man – Connor Frazier, 34, was arraigned recently on an indictment that alleges Frazier unlawfully possessed child pornography, on or about July 1, 2021. At the court hearing, United States Magistrate Judge Kevin J. Doyle ordered Frazier to be released on conditions of pretrial supervision pending trial.

The federal case arises from the same circumstances underlying a pending state criminal case against Frazier that was filed in Vermont Superior Court, Washington Unit, in July 2021. If convicted, Frazier would face a minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum sentence of 20 years of imprisonment for unlawfully possessing child sexual abuse materials.

Gun fired from minivan in Burlington – Saturday May 14 at 3 pm, Burlington Police received a 911 call about an individual operating a blue minivan displaying a firearm out of the driver’s window and firing two rounds in the air. Police say officers responded and recovered ballistic evidence consistent with a firearm discharge. Preliminary information revealed the operator of the blue minivan was identified as Sheridan Durochia, age 25, of Hinesburg. A short time later, Williston Police Department received a motor vehicle complaint, which was determined to be the suspect vehicle in the gunfire incident. Burlington Officer responded to scene in Williston where Durochia’s vehicle was seized as evidence, pending a search warrant. Williston Police took Durochia into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Burlington City Hall Park knife fight – On May 15, 2022, at about 2 AM, a Burlington police officer was near Church St. and Main St .finishing a separate disturbance, when the officer observed a second physical altercation occurring near City Hall by the alleyway that leads to City Hall Park. Police say the officer observed a large crowd of about 15 individuals gathering around the physical altercation.

The officer approached the physical altercation and observed two females fighting. The solo officer was able to stop the altercation and separate the females. Preliminary investigation revealed the females knew each other from previous encounters. Officers gathered statements and discovered one of the females had suffered multiple non-life threatening stab wounds. Burlington Fire Department transported the female to the University of Vermont of Medical Center’s Emergency Department for further medical treatment.

Stolen camper – On April 30, state police dispatch received a call to report a stolen camper from a residence in Townshend (Windham County). Police say Sarah M. Weitzel, 41, stole and sold the camper, as well as gave a false report to a law enforcement officer. On May 12, Weitzel was arrested and transported to the Westminster Barracks for processing. She was released with a criminal citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court,
