Two days ago, the number of 2023 reader visits to the Vermont Daily Chronicle surpassed the entire number of visits during 2022 – which was (until this year) a record year for people visiting this daily online newspaper.
Each time someone accesses the Chronicle on their computer and cellphone, it’s recorded as a ‘visit.’ Sort of like visiting a store in a mall. Most people then browse around, look at a few items [view a few stories], and then go elsewhere on the Internet.
If you’re reading this, that means YOU are one of our record number of 2023 visitors. So from us to you, dear visitor – thank you!
Thanks to you and others, more people than ever have walked into the Chronicle this year. We’re on schedule to surpass last year’s million-plus record number of views sometime in the first week of December.
Like any bricks and mortar shop, we’ve tried to do the right things. Advertise (subscriber marketing), Hire staff (assistant editor Tim Page, reporter Mike Bielawski, etc.) We’ve taken these steps despite inflation eating into our operating budget. And every day we try to offer the best product with the best service.
All of those ‘right things’ cost more money, of course. Still, what we haven’t done is raise our prices. Because we rely on your generosity, your appreciation, to continue operating.
This is our mission: Vermont Daily Chronicle publishes fair, accurate, and relevant news and commentary about Vermont state government, policy and culture.
