A Bennington man is facing multiple felony charges after Vermont State Police say he threatened another driver with a gun during a road rage incident Tuesday evening on Route 7A.
According to Vermont State Police, troopers from the Shaftsbury Barracks responded around 5:46 p.m. on March 24 to a be-on-the-lookout alert for a dark Buick traveling north in Arlington. The vehicle had been reported for aggressively tailgating another car and refusing to pass when the lead driver pulled over.
Police said the situation escalated when the operator of the Buick began gesturing angrily and was later seen waving a firearm out of the window.
Following an investigation, troopers arrested Malik O. Hardy, 25, of Bennington, on charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated stalking with a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment, grossly negligent operation, criminal threatening, and disorderly conduct.
The alleged victim was identified as Tyler J. Bubier, 22, of Bennington.
Hardy was taken into custody and transported to the Shaftsbury Barracks for processing before being lodged at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility. He was ordered held without bail.
Police said Hardy is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Bennington Criminal Division on March 25 at 12:30 p.m. for arraignment.
