
UVM police are seeking a man who leapt from hiding, tackled a young woman, and tried to remove her clothing at 1 AM Nov. 2 a block from the campus.
UVM Police Services received information Nov. 8 of an assault, possible attempted sexual assault at South Prospect Street and Maple Street in Burlington. Police say an unknown man appeared from a hidden position and “tackled” the victim who was walking at the time. The assailant reportedly attempted to remove the woman’s clothing.
The incident was stopped by friends of the victim who were with them but following at a distance. The assailant fled the area on foot.
UVM police have distributed a photo of the suspect.
Two fatal crashes – State Police report two early Sunday morning, November 10 crashes leading to the deaths of the drivers.
On Searles Rd. in Newport Center at 1:15 AM, a northbound Subaru driven by Christopher Kirch, 20 of Troy crossed the centerline and went off the south side of the road, striking several trees before overturning. Kirch, who was wearing his seatbelt, was declared dead at the scene.
At about 4 AM, a pickup truck crash on Cold River Road in Shrewsbury claimed the life of the driver. State police say the driver crossed the center line and crashed, and was declared dead at the scene. Police are withholding public identification pending notification of kin.
Pokémon thievery – Berlin police are seeking a suspected Pokémon thief.
Several items were stolen Nov. 5-6 from the Berlin Wal-Mart by the same person. Anyone with information should call police at 802-223-4401.
