Pittsford woman died of gunshot to head, neck

Vermont State Police have identified the woman found dead early Wednesday morning in a Pittsford residence as Erica Bovey, 41, of Pittsford.

An autopsy performed Thursday at the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head and neck. The manner of death remains under investigation and is listed as pending.

State police responded to a 911 call at approximately 2:10 a.m. Wednesday from a resident of a home on Hollister Quarry Road reporting that an individual had died. First responders arrived to find Bovey deceased. Police are treating the incident as a suspicious death. No one is in custody.

No further details have been released by police.

According to social media, Erica Bovey is a 1996 graduate of Pittsford High School. Hollister Quarry Road is listed as the home of Travis and Erica Bovey.
