Police: man hit by truck, abandoned in ravine

A Craftsbury man, Parker Clark, 20, has been charged with attempted second degree murder, DUI, and gross and negligent operation with serious bodily injury resulting after police say he was doing ‘donuts’ with his truck, struck a man standing nearby, and then tried to abandon him in a creek in a remote ravine.

May 11 at 9:50 pm, state police were notified of an incident where someone had been struck by a truck. The victim, later identified as Tyler Friend, 19, of Craftsbury, was unconscious in a cornfield off S. Albany Road in Craftsbury. Assisting departments included Hardwick Rescue, Glover Ambulance, Newport Ambulance, Craftsbury Fire, Orleans County Sherriff’s and later, DHART helicopter services.

Upon troopers’ arrival, the operator of the truck involved in the collision was identified as Parker Clark. Police learned the incident actually occurred at the boating ramp access on Beach Road in Greensboro. Due to the significant nature of the victim’s injuries, Friend was flown via helicopter to the University of Vermont Medical Center.

Clark was found to show signs and indicators of impairment and was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. Clark was taken into custody, transported to the Vermont State Police – Derby Barracks where he was processed for DUI.

Further Investigation revealed Clark was doing donuts in the parking lot when he struck Friend who was standing in the parking lot. Clark loaded Friend into his truck where he drove him to a remote farm off S. Albany Road in Craftsbury, drove across a cornfield to the woods line, dragged/carried the juvenile over a small ravine and down into a slow-moving creek. Clark got back into his truck and got stuck in the mud, rendering him unable to leave. Clark subsequently returned to Friend in the wooded ravine and pulled/carried him back out before making his way to the local farm to call for help.

Friend is considered to be in critical condition.

Parker Clark was ordered jailed without bail Thursday morning at the Northern State Correctional Facility in Coventry pending arraignment scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, May 12, in court in Newport.

This investigation is in its infancy stages and will continue. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Derby Barracks at 802-334-8881.

  1. Great parenting. Keep it up, folks. Keep bashing those of faith and organizations such as the Catholic Church (with billions of followers worldwide, BTW) because an extremely minute number of child sex abusers infiltrated the priesthood) —– whilst often your own offspring is exemplified by engaging in these types of abominable acts.

    • I would like to know when they are no longer Juveniles. Last I know it was after they reach 18

  2. The lack of respect for human life in the womb seeps into the general population….and all of our lives become disposable…..wake up Vermonters….

  3. All those video games where the goal is to kill off your opponent. No connection in devaluation of the Sacredness of Human Life at all here folks.
Alcohol is the number one drug abused in Vermont, period, and in our Congress and legislature.
Lets just keep that under wraps though… like addicts do.
    Gateway drug extraordinaire.
We’ve lost our connection with the Divine Source and the Gift that Life is…or too many have.
Insidious Satan in our midst stealing our youth every which way.
Parents too frazzled, gaslighted, and undermined to be able to be any sort of guide let alone protection, and legislation by the Satanista’s in the legislature who made ‘little contracts with the devil’ to keep themselves comfy, fed and warm… incoming.
There’s another agenda at work in Vermont – but, we get exactly what we accept.

  4. Tyler Friend is my cousin’s grandson. This is family. I agree that 20 years old is not a juvenile. At least the creep is in jail without bail. I hope that lasts a long time.
