BROWNINGTON — The Old Stone House Museum and Historic Village will celebrate the 190th anniversary of its granite dormitory building with a daylong event on Sunday, Aug. 16, featuring a granite cutting demonstration, live music, heritage crafts and more.
Old Stone House Day runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The four-story granite building, completed 190 years ago, now houses the museum.
This year’s event includes a blacksmith demonstration, farm animals, Jasper Hill Farm cheese samples, a corn roast, historic games, heritage craft vendors, a pie auction and a farm chore relay race at noon.
Attendees can explore all four floors of the museum, including its newest exhibit, “Rugs: Artwork Under Foot,” which highlights rugs crafted by local women.
The Brownington Congregational Church will host an open house from noon to 3 p.m., with music by Mark Violette. Town historical societies will also be on hand.
A picnic lunch will be available for purchase from the Ladies Aid Society of Brownington.
Early bird admission is $10 per car through Aug. 12. Day-of admission is $15 per car.
Museum members are admitted free.
