Two Norwich University students are facing charges for allegedly stealing $30,000 in property from a Sutton cannabis farm.
The incident took place two weeks ago at Off Piste Farm, where a neighbor’s game camera recorded two individuals approaching the property. Vermont State Police recovered the stolen 15 pounds of marijuana in Northfield last week.
Off Piste Farm is a small, independently owned, off-grid farm located in Sutton, Vermont, in the Northeast Kingdom. Founded in 2015 by Ben Wilcox, the farm operates on a 50-acre property, with about 7 acres of cleared fields used for cultivation and livestock. The farm grows organic hemp-derived CBD products, and other farm goods.
Local businesses and community members assisted police in identifying 18-year-old Isaaic Fletcher as one suspect. The second suspect, 22-year-old Bryam Ramirez, turned himself in on Sunday night. Both students are from Florida.
Fletcher has been charged with grand larceny and released under specific conditions.
Ramirez faces several charges, including the sale of cannabis, and is set to appear in court in June.
