Twitter accepts Musk’s $44 billion deal –Musk, a self-described “free-speech absolutist”, says Twitter plays favorites | 25 April 2022 | Twitter’s board has accepted Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s 54.20 per share offer to take the social media giant private. Under the terms of the agreement, Twitter stockholders will receive 54.20 in cash for each share of Twitter common stock that they own upon closing of the proposed transaction. The purchase price represents a 38% premium to Twitter’s closing stock price on April 1, 2022, the last trading day before Musk disclosed a 9.2% stake in the company.

Fauci crushed for saying it’s ‘disturbing’ that a U.S. court can overrule the CDC –‘Fauci may want to take a little time and review the Constitution and the case law.’ | 22 April 2022 | Dr. Anthony Fauci took major heat after lamenting on Thursday that it was “disturbing” that a federal court would rule against the CDC’s COVID-19 travel mask mandate, adding his opinion, “This is not a judicial matter.” Prominent conservative Twitter users crushed Fauci for his “stupidity,” with many accusing the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director of thinking he and the CDC “are above the law.” Fauci’s irksome comments happened during a Thursday interview with CBS News about U.S. District Court Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle striking down the travel mask mandate on Monday. West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, R-W.V., tweeted: “Fauci may want to take a little time and review the Constitution and the case law. The CDC must follow the law just like any other agency or person. We must fight against the woke-left which appears h-ll bent on using Covid to control people as long as possible. #NoToFauci”

New Ebola case confirmed in northwestern Congo, health authorities say | 23 April 2022 | A new case of Ebola has been confirmed in northwestern Democratic Republic of Congo, prompting health authorities to enforce urgent containment measures just four months after the previous outbreak came to an end. The case, a 31-year old male, was detected in the city of Mbandaka, capital of Congo’s Equateur province. Around 74 of his contacts are being tracked, the health ministry said in a statement… He was admitted to an Ebola treatment centre on April 21 and died later that day.

Russia opens humanitarian corridor for civilians from Mariupol’s Azovstal plant –Soldiers will observe a ceasefire to let civilians exit in all directions, the Ministry of Defense has announced | 25 April 2022 | Russian and Donbass forces will observe a ceasefire around the besieged Azovstal steel mill in Mariupol starting from 2 p.m. Moscow time on Monday, allowing civilians to evacuate to safety, the Russian Defense Ministry has said. Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev, the head of Russia’s National Defense Management Center, said that armed units will “withdraw to a safe distance and maintain the exit of civilians from the said area in any direction they choose.” Russian and Donbass troops mainly control the city, but a number of Ukrainian soldiers have been holed up in Azovstal. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, however, claimed last week that roughly 1,000 civilians remained in the mill as well.

Two people shot dead by police in Paris amid protests – media –Officers opened fire on a vehicle after the passengers “refused to comply” | 24 April 2022 | Two people were killed in Paris amid election protests on Sunday evening after police fired at a vehicle, following a “refusal to comply,” AFP news agency reported. The vehicle reportedly tried to run the officers over at Pont Neuf, and one of them fired his weapon. The driver and one passenger died; another sitting in the back seat was injured. The driver reportedly stopped at the request of the police, but during the check, he suddenly took off and drove towards the officers. According to the media, one of the police officers shot with a rifle several times in self defense.

U.S. Navy investigating vandalism of nuclear submarine | 22 April 2022 | The U.S. Navy is investigating what they believe is an intentional act of vandalism that damaged equipment within the Virginian-class submarine USS Texas (SSN-775) in the last month. The suspected vandalism took place as the USS Texas has been undergoing maintenance at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Maine. Shipyard spokesperson Danna Eddy said in a statement reported by the Portsmouth Herald on Thursday that federal government equipment on the submarine was damaged on or around March 29 of this year… The case is currently under investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS).

Durham issues trial subpoenas to Clinton campaign and DNC | 23 April 2022 | Special counsel John Durham issued trial subpoenas for members of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign and the Democratic National Committee as he pushed his theory of a “joint venture” in the case against Democratic cybersecurity lawyer Michael Sussmann, who represented the Clinton campaign, and Rodney Joffe. Clinton’s campaign, the DNC, the opposition research firm Fusion GPS, and the Perkins Coie law firm are fighting Durham’s efforts to compel the submission of withheld documents, arguing their claims of attorney-client privilege should keep the records concealed. However, Durham is continuing his legal pressure as he insists those groups played a coordinated role in pushing false Trump-Russia collusion claims.  

ICE preparing for ‘historic border surge,’ says migrant arrivals could triple –There were more than 221,000 migrant encounters in March alone | 23 April 2022 | Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) says it is expecting a “historic” surge in migration at the border, and the number of those arriving at the border is expected to triple — as the Biden administration prepares to lift the Title 42 public health order. In a filing in a case on family detention, ICE’s Juvenile Coordinator painted a grim picture of what the months ahead look like for the agency. “ICE is preparing to utilize its limited resources to respond to an historic border surge, with projections forecasted to triple current arrivals,” the April 8 filing in the Flores v Garland case says.

ICE to release 600,000 illegal immigrants by September | 19 April 2022 | ICE is getting ready to release as many as 600,000 illegal immigrants into communities before the end of September, the agency told a federal judge, giving an early estimate of the chaos the administration is predicting after it ends the Title 42 pandemic border shutdown. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement revealed the figure in a court filing dealing with how it plans to handle illegal immigrant children who arrive as part of the surge. Deane Dougherty, ICE’s juvenile coordinator, wrote in the filing that the Homeland Security Department expects a “historic border surge, with projections forecasted to triple current arrivals.”

Fleeing by the Dozen: Kamala’s Chief of Staff Becomes 12th Aide to Ditch Scandal-Plagued Veep | 22 April 2022 | Kamala Harris’s chief of staff Tina Flournoy will become the latest aide to leave her office, the Washington Post reported Thursday. Flournoy is the 12th–and the highest-ranking–Harris adviser to walk away from the White House, following her deputy chief of staff, national security adviser, and communications director, among others. Former staffers describe working for Harris as so “toxic” and “abusive” that they are “terrified at the thought of her becoming president,” the Washington Free Beaconreported last year.

Tenured Canadian professor fired after saying BLM ‘destroyed’ her university | 20 April 2022 | A tenured Canadian professor who was fired after criticizing Black Lives Matter (BLM) has a proposed arbitration date set during which she intends to lay out her grievances against her former university. “All of my grievances are going forward together at this time,” Frances Widdowson said during a recent interview with The College Fix. She confirmed to Fox News Digital that the proposed dates are Jan. 16-27, 2023, but they have not been confirmed. Widdowson, who taught economics, justice and policy studies, was fired from Mount Royal University (MRU) in Calgary, Alberta, last December after stoking controversy for comments criticizing BLM, which she said “destroyed MRU” to such an extent that she “doesn’t recognize the institution anymore.”
