Medellin, 34, charged with heroin dealing

Police say a woman from Newport is facing heroin trafficking and possession charges. The Vermont State Police received a report on Saturday that Kassandra Medellin, 34, was violating her court-ordered condition of release.

Police say Medellin had a 24-hour curfew with the exception of work, and troopers were unable to locate her at her place of work or residence. She was later located and taken into custody without incident and transported to the Derby barracks for processing.

While at the barracks police say she was found in possession of a large quantity of suspected heroin.

She was lodged at Northern State Correctional Facility on a lack of $50,000 bail. She is facing charges of heroin trafficking/possession, and violation of conditions of release.

  1. NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED WITHOUT CHECKING RESIDENCE, EMPLOYMENT ETC. BUT FINALLY, SUCCESS! $50,000 BOND AND IN JAIL!

  2. What kind of a SarahGeorgian system of justice lets heroin dealers who have already violated conditions of release on multiple occasions out again on the same conditions of release?… and expect a different outcome…?
