Campaign for Vermont Prosperity has named longtime Vermont business and civic leader Pam Mackenzie as its new president, succeeding Pat McDonald, who led the nonpartisan public policy organization for the past decade.
McDonald will remain involved with the organization as a member of its Advisory Council.
Mackenzie said she is eager to build on the organization’s work promoting data-driven public policy, government transparency, and economic growth.
“It is my honor to step into this role,” Mackenzie said. “What I found was a group of smart, thoughtful, and deeply dedicated people, all working toward the same thing: making Vermont a better place to live, work, and raise a family. I’m energized, I’m ready, and I can’t wait to get to work.”
Campaign for Vermont Prosperity said Mackenzie assumes the leadership role as the state grapples with issues including education costs and outcomes, housing affordability, rising health care costs, and public confidence in government.
“None of these challenges are simple, but all of them are solvable when we lead with credible, nonpartisan analysis and practical, data-driven solutions,” Mackenzie said.
Mackenzie brings decades of executive leadership experience in the telecommunications and technology industries, including leadership roles with Xerox IT Services, Comcast, Adelphia, C2 Competitive Computing, and Inntopia.
Her public service includes serving as chair of the Vermont Telecommunications Authority, where she oversaw efforts to expand broadband and cellular service across the state, as well as chairing the Vermont Public Television board and the South Burlington City Council. She has also served as interim CEO of the Greater Burlington YMCA and on the boards of numerous Vermont nonprofit and business organizations.
Mackenzie praised McDonald’s leadership over the past decade, saying the foundation she built has positioned the organization for its next chapter.
Campaign for Vermont Prosperity is a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization that promotes policies aimed at strengthening Vermont’s economy, expanding the middle class, and increasing transparency and accountability in government.
