Ronald Mason, 44, of Albany pleaded innocent in Vermont Superior Court (criminal) Tuesday November 15 to first-degree aggravated domestic assault for allegedly cutting a juvenile female with broken glass and burning her with a butane torch, the Caledonian-Record daily newspaper reported yesterday.
Judge Lisa Warren released Mason on conditions that he not attempt to contact the victim, the newspaper report said.
Police reports say a school resource officer at Lake Region High School told him that a friend, attending another school, was the victim of an assault and was currently at an Albany general store. The victim had entered the store and informed the owner about what had happened.
In an interview at the hospital, the alleged victim said she and Mason had been in an argument. He then held her down, cut her with glass on her back, and burned her arm with a butane torch, the newspaper report said.
Police said they saw evidence of blowtorch burns on her arm, and the girl said, “For the burns the pain was beyond 10 which spread from my wrist all the way around and up my forearm.”
