A Burlington man is in custody after allegedly stabbing a victim in scenic Battery Park.
On September 20, at about 1 PM, the Burlington Police Department responded to Battery Park for a report of a male victim covered in blood.
Officers arrived at the scene, located the bleeding male victim, and immediately rendered life saving measures. Officers also located and detained the suspect, later identified as Damber Chhetri, 33, of Burlington.
Investigation revealed there was an altercation between Chhetri and the victim. During the altercation, Chhetri produced a knife and stabbed the victim. The victim was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center.
Chhetri was taken into custody where he was held without bail until arraignment.

Bad neighbor arrested for stalking
Vermont State Police have arrested a man in Grand Isle for numerous stalking incidents from early August to mid-September.
Police arrested John Wright, 60, of Grand Isle on numerous charges including stalking, unlawful mischief, and criminal threats towards his nextdoor neighbors.
In one notable incident, Wright is alleged to have followed the wife of the household all the way to Colchester after her husband had left, driving in a reckless and aggressive manner.
He is also alleged to have destroyed plants, flowers, and shrubs on the same couple’s property.
Wright was arrested at his residence by DMV officers on September 20 following an unrelated criminal investigation. At that time, he was issued a citation for the stalking charges.
Burlington Police give tips on avoiding car break-ins
As Burlington crime continues to spike, the BPD is reminding residents of the importance of locking personal vehicles and removing valuables said vehicles when parked outside.
There have been numerous reports of car break-ins all across the city, not limited to any one area. The trend in theft from cars has only increased year by year.
The Burlington Police Department gives the following pointers on how to avoid car break-ins:
- Remove valuables from your car
- Lock car doors
- Store key fobs in a safe place, away from your car
- When possible, keep your car in garage or well-lit area
- When possible, aim security cameras at your parked car
