The board of directors of BETA Technologies has initiated an independent review following the release of U.S. Department of Justice materials related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation that include references to company board member Dean Kamen.
Kamen is a New Hampshire resident and inventor of the Segway and other cutting-edge inventions.
There are 702 entries to the search term “Dean Kamen” on the DOJ Epstein Files search engine. 10 are listed below.
In a statement, the company said Kamen has voluntarily recused himself from all board activity effective Feb. 4, 2026, while the review is underway.
BETA said it has retained an independent, external law firm to conduct the review of the DOJ materials. The board described the review as necessary to ensure the company’s actions align with its stated values and standards of corporate governance.
According to the statement, Kamen has said he will fully cooperate with the review.
The company emphasized that it remains focused on its core mission of electrifying aviation and said it is committed to maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance.
Kamen is the subject of a Change.org petition calling for an investigation into his connection with Epstein.
