Friday August 30, I had the blessing of hosting the Northfield Labor Day Motor Show at our studio at the old Bean Chevrolet. The turnout was excellent with 75+ cars and 40 motorcycles. (My count based on a tally we took as cars were in and out throughout the evening).
Spectators enjoyed classic cars, new cars, race cars, motorcycles, lifted trucks, and antique cars. An old jeep that one guy brought converted into a camper or sorts.
One of the coolest motors on display? A motorcycle guy brought along a little electric powered drone that was able to get some pretty incredible shots of the show featured in the video linked above. I recommend watching the video in “full screen” to see just how awesome some of these shots really are.
Not only did spectators enjoy the motor show, but we had Rocket Js serving the classics – hot dogs, burgers, french fries, and jalapeno poppers. Bean’s Creemees had the biggest line I have seen to date, and the whole scene as a whole was reminiscent of both the old days of the Bean Chevrolet Car Show and the Rocket Js Tuesday night “Dollar A Dog.”
For entertainment, we had Good Measure Beer and the EDW Band right next to each other.
While the perfect weather helped the turnout, it was all the help received that made it possible. Putting together something like this takes real coordination of a team. And for the first time putting on something like this, we did pretty good.
I want to thank the Northfield Labor Day Committee, 802 Hooligans, Twisted Tuners, all of the car clubs in attendance, and all of the racing teams that came by.
I am most thankful that everyone was respectful, safe, and responsible. This was the perfect mix of having fun and pushing the limit just a little bit. I am all for having fun, but you know what they say “it’s all fun and games, until….” And everyone did a great job of remembering that because we all realize we want to be able to keep doing this and keep everyone safe most of all!
I cannot wait to see what this turns into for the future and let me just say I am certain this is merely the beginning of something great. So thank you for coming, thank you for helping set up, and thank you for making it happen!
Good times had by all. Sorry if you missed it! See you next time, folks!
