5th bank hit by suspected robber was located a block from the Burlington Police Station
Police say a Burlington man suspected of four recent bank robberies robbed a bank yesterday afternoon, October 31. The bank is located a block away from the Burlington Police Department station. He fled on a bicycle and is still at large.
At about 3:50 PM, the Burlington Police Dispatch Center received a panic alarm from Opportunities Credit Union on North Avenue, BPD said.
Officers arrived on scene within a minute of receiving the alarm to learn the bank was robbed and the suspect, James Plunkett, 39, took off east on North Street with an unknown amount of cash. Plunkett is a suspect in four other bank robberies over the last 10 days.
The Burlington Police is asking anyone with surveillance camera footage near the bank on North St to contact Det. Cpl. Beal. Plunkett left with an unknown amount of cash. This is an active investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Burlington Police Department at (802) 658-2704.
