Gang assault in Burlington/ Cannabis store, farm stand robbed theft/ Lawnmower collides with truck

A man was approached and assaulted in Burlington by a group of about 12 individuals in the early hours of Monday, September 2, Burlington police say.

The incident occurred on College Street, just a stone’s throw away from UVM / Champlain campus and a common path for students walking to and from Church Street.

At around 3:45 AM, the victim was approached by a gang of individuals. After a verbal argument, five members of the group advanced and senselessly beat the victim, repeatedly kicking him while he was on the ground. 

The victim managed to run and get away. He was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center Emergency Department by the Burlington Fire Department to be treated for his injuries.

Police are unsure of the exact makeup of the gang but mentioned that some members may have been juveniles.

Theft at Cannabis Store

An unknown man was captured on camera after stealing from a cannabis store in Bethel, state police say.

The incident occurred at Something Wicked Cannabis on September 3, at around 8 AM. Police say a man, pictured here, forced his way into the building and stole a variety of merchandise from the shop

The Vermont State Police are asking for public assistance in identifying the suspect. Anyone with any information call the Royalton Barracks 802-234-9933.

Man Steals from Farmstand Cashbox

A man was caught on camera stealing cash from a farmstand in Danville, state police say.

Police say the incident occurred at around 11 PM August 29, but was only noticed at around 6 PM the following day.

The man was recorded entering the farm stand, seizing the cashbox, and leaving with the cashbox immediately after. The suspect can be seen wearing a dark colored, graphic, hooded sweatshirt.

The Vermont State Police ask that anyone who may have information pertaining to the theft, or who are able to identify the individual in the photo, call the Vermont State Police St. Johnsbury Barracks at 802-748-3111.

Lawnmower Collides with Tractor Trailer in Tunbridge

At around 12:20 PM on August 30, Islene Runningdeer, 75, of Tunbridge drove her lawnmower onto Route.110 and struck a tractor trailer, the VT Dept. of Motor Vehicles reports.

The tractor trailer was operated by Brigham Young, 40, of Essex. The collision happened along the trailer portion of the vehicle.

Runningdeer sustained minor, non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

Her intention in driving onto the roadway remains unclear.
