Friday at Four: Scott breaks homeless hotel logjam (or tries to)

by Guy Page

Paul and I were sitting in the State House cafeteria Thursday afternoon planning out the Run of Show for Friday at Four. For once, there was no late-breaking, ‘Holy Cow we’ve GOT to talk about this’ topic to lead the show.

“But, ” I said, “it’s only Thursday.”

Thursday night and Friday morning came and went. Still just a ‘week in review’ lineup.

But sure enough, when I got to the 802 Scoop studio in Barre at 3 PM Friday, on-the-ball Paul clued me in on Gov. Scott’s announcement that he would extend the homeless hotel/motel program through June 30, the end of the fiscal year – but only for the most needy clients.

So that was our lead. We also talked about the financial loss that would befall the average Vermont family if the Trump tax cuts aren’t extended past this year. And about some strong reactions to Paul and I shooting semi-automatic weapons at Parro’s last week. And about the ACLU and Hamas and the announcement that 135 people have died while living in the homeless hotel program.

We also veered off Vermont-policy topic for a few minutes to talk about how we all can help Make America Healthy Again. And about Yak meat. Of course.

Kudos and thank you to Raylene Meunier of 802 Scoop for allowing us to shoot FAF in her accessible, professional studio.
