From the 802 Scoop Studio in Barre Friday, January 10, all four VDC news staff review:
– The first week in the Legislature. New committee leaders, new vibe of consensus, and new responsibility for the GOP to help be part of the solution. And a new lieutenant governor, new Republican John Rodgers.
– Burlington Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak’s controversial gag order on the Burlington Police Department. The Progressive mayor decreed there will be no public statements without her office’s approval following Chief Jon Murad’s call for the courts to consider a habitual offender status for the 51-times convicted Michael Reynolds, a veteran of 1,850 police interactions. Is this even legal? If it’s legal, is it wise to bind the chief of police for speaking out to protect his officers and the public from the repeated assaults allegedly committed by one of Burlington’s most notorious serial offenders? We discuss……
And finally, we briefly preview the State of Vermont’s efforts to protect Vermont from forest fires and the next big flood. For the first time ever, Friday at Four featured all four members of VDC’s growing news staff: Editor Guy Page, Social Media Director/Reporter Paul Bean, Reporter Mike Bielawski, and Managing Editor Tim Page.
Like all first-time efforts, it felt a little rocky at times. We are so thankful to Raylene Meunier and 802 Scoop Studio in Barre for providing the studio, cameras and equipment. More to come!
Thank you for checking in with Friday at Four and we encourage you to please share on your social media platform of choice.
