Feds jail alleged knife-wielding Burlington shoplifter

Sabrina Kingsbury, 40, of Colchester, has been charged under the federal Hobbs Act with obstructing commerce by robbery. Kingsbury appeared yesterday in U.S. District Court and was ordered detained until trial.

According to court records, at 4 pm April 18 Kingsbury entered the Black Diamond store at 17 Church Street and gathered about $1,200 worth of merchandise, including clothing, a backpack, and a headlamp. Kingsbury then tried to leave the store without paying. After store employees confronted her, she threatened to stab one of them. 

Soon after, officers from the Burlington Police Department arrested Kingsbury with the merchandise near the bus stop located at St. Paul and Pearl Streets. At the time of her arrest, Kingsbury possessed a Gerber Leatherman knife. 

If convicted, Kingsbury faces a maximum sentence of twenty years imprisonment and three years of supervised release, which would follow any sentence of imprisonment.

Burlington’s sixth gunfire incident of 2022 occurred May 1 at 3 am, Burlington Police Department dispatch received multiple calls about a verbal argument, followed by a gunshot. Officers responded and recovered ballistics evidence consistent with a firearms discharge. Police say Two males were involved in a verbal altercation when one male displayed a firearm and pointed it at the other male. Witnesses stated the male discharged the firearm at the other male. There were no reports of injury to any parties, and the suspect(s) then fled the area in a vehicle.

Burlington woman walking home assaulted – May 01 at 2 AM, Burlington Police responded to Hickok Place for a reported assault. Officers met the victim who stated she was walking home from downtown when she saw a male following her. The victim advised the unknown male grabbed her shoulders from behind. The male then grabbed her neck, placing her in a headlock. The victim was able to defend herself and escape, and ran home. The unknown male is described as a white, about 40 years old and 5’6” to 5’10” tall, with a medium-length beard, and a medium to heavy build. He was wearing a blue jacket.

Lewd & Lascivious in Granville – At 5 pm on May 3, On 05-03-22, State Police received a complaint of a male masturbating outside a vehicle on Leland Jones Road, Granville.  He was identified as Eric Holtz, 65, of Rochester.  Holtz was issued a citation to appear in Addison County Court on May 23 for Lewd and Lascivious Conduct.
