Fatal crash/ Cited for 130 MPH in Subie Outback

A Brattleboro man is dead following a December 1 crash in Dummerston.

State police say that at about 9 AM they responded to a reported single-vehicle crash on Rte. 5 in Dummerston. They found a 2014 Subaru Impreza off the west side of the roadway, down an embankment, resting against a tree. Operator / sole occupant Thomas Stockton, 32, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police say Stockton was traveling south on when he failed to maintain his lane and drove off the west side of the roadway, colliding with a tree. The Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by the West Dummerston Fire Dept and Rescue.

130 MPH in Subaru Outback

A New Hampshire man was charged with excessive speeding after state police clocked his car going 130 mph on Interstate 91, the Newport Dispatch reports. 

Jeffrey Matheson, 20, of Gilman, was driving a Subaru Outback when he was stopped by a trooper on patrol at approximately 7:54 p.m. Thursday.

The posted speed limit in the area is 65 mph.

Matheson’s speed was detected by radar, according to the Vermont State Police.

He was cited to appear in Orleans Superior Criminal Court to answer to the charge.
