Her grandparents caught transporting 60 lbs. of marijuana in 2017

The daughter of the Vermont Superior Court judge whose parents were found guilty of transporting 60 lbs. of marijuana in 2017 was arrested Saturday, August 13 for drunk driving and resisting arrest.
State police say that Jasmine Jiron, 26, of Underhill, the daughter of Vermont Superior Court Judge Justin Jiron, showed signs of impairment and resisted arrest when found at her disabled vehicle on Skunk Hill Road in Georgia. The Vermont State Police press release reads as follows:
“On 08/13/2022 at approximately 2114 hours, Vermont State Police checked on a disabled vehicle in the location of Route 104A by Skunk Hill Rd in Georgia. The operator was identified as Jasmine Jiron (26) of Underhill. Jiron showed signs of alcohol impairment and was screened for DUI. When attempting to place Jiron into custody for suspicion of DUI, she actively resisted arrest. Jiron was then transported to the St. Albans State Police Barracks for processing. Jiron was released to a sober adult and ordered to appear in Franklin County Superior Court for the charge of DUI #1 and Resisting Arrest.”
Jiron has an adult daughter named Jasmine, according to his bio released by the office of Gov. Phil Scott when Jiron – a former deputy prosecutor under Chittenden County State’s Attorney Sarah George who handled most of the drug cases and liased with the U.S. Attorney’s office – was appointed to the Superior Court post in December, 2021. The August 18 County Courier – the community newspaper for Franklin County, where the offense occurred – cites the familial link with Judge Jiron. The Courier is well-regarded for its hands-on police and court coverage.
Neither Jiron need worry they will face each other court. When arrested, Jasmine Jiron was scheduled to appear in Franklin County Superior Court Monday, August 23. Her father is scheduled to serve as Caledonia/Essex County family/criminal court presiding judge through September. In Vermont, Superior Court judges serve county courts on a rotational basis. Also, a judge assigned to the county court where an offense occurs may recuse him/herself.
According to her LinkedIn page, Jiron has worked in purchasing at Stowe Mountain Company for five years.
A quick internet search shows Judge Jiron’s daughter has had no other brushes with the law. The same cannot be said for his parents. In December 2017 Jiron’s parents, Patrick and Barbara Jiron of California, were arrested in Nebraska while allegedly driving 60 pounds of marijuana across country. They told police they were headed to Vermont and planned to distribute the marijuana as Christmas presents. Several weeks later they were stopped by Nebraska police for tailgating. A police dog discovered $18,000 in alleged drug money, carried in bags smelling of marijuana, police say.
After their arrest, George told the Burlington Free Press there is no connection or impact between the elder Jirons and their son’s work for her office. The elder Jirons had no previous criminal records and avoided prison by pleading no contest, according to a September 2018 VTDigger report.
