A Waitsfield man was cited for driving under the influence after crashing into two residential structures early Sunday morning, according to Vermont State Police.
Troopers were called to Main Street at 12:42 AM on Nov. 23 for a report of a vehicle that had struck a house. Police say their investigation determined that the driver, Eric McCarthy, had been traveling along Main Street when his vehicle left the roadway, hit part of one building, and then continued into the gable end of a second, separate residence.
State Police said McCarthy showed signs of impairment at the scene and was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and negligent operation. No information was released about injuries, and police did not specify the extent of damage to the structures.
McCarthy was later released with a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court–Criminal Division.
The crash remains under investigation.
