Burlington Police reported on October 23 they had arrested Patrick Ibbotson, 38, that day for two burglaries and violating his conditions of release by trespassing.
Early afternoon on Oct 24, BPD issued this update: On October 23, 2024, Patrick Ibbotson was arraigned and released on conditions. Currently, Ibbotson has 34 sets of active conditions of release.
A few hours after Ibbotson was released from court for burglarizing an establishment on Battery Street, Ibbotson returned to the same establishment and burglarized it again.
On October 24, 2024, Ibbotson was located in Burlington, arrested, and transported to court for arraignment.
Update of the Update: On October 24, 2024, Patrick Ibbotson was arraigned and released. Ibbotson’s 34 sets of active conditions remain in effect. He is expected at court on November 22, 2024.

Ibbotson had been recently released from jail on September 26, having been incarcerated for numerous incidents in Burlington and Williston. Among other alleged incidents, he trespassed and threatened parishioners at St. Joseph’s Cathedral and the United Methodist Church on Buell St.

Ibbotson is yet another “mega-offender” with a lengthy rap sheet. He has racked up over 270 police incidents since June 2016 alone.
Due to the policies of progressive politicians such as Sarah George, the Chittenden County State’s Attorney, people like Ibbotson are sent to the courthouse only to be returned to the street the following day, sometimes the same day.
Ibbotson’s criminal history includes:
5 failures to appear
3 violations of court order or conditions charges
10 misdemeanor charges
1 assaultive charge
Trailer Theft in Wells River
Police say a homeless man broke into a trailer and stole a truck in the early hours of October 20.
Police first arrived at the stolen, crashed trailer scene and were later informed of the Chevy Silverado that was stolen from Undercover Tents LLC.
Later, New Hampshire police found the trailer had crashed across the border in NH. David Gilmore, 46, was taken into custody for the incident on charges of Grand Larceny and Possession of Methamphetamine, among other charges. Additionally, the Silverado was located at Bradford Elementary School.
Police also determined that Gilmore had stolen lumber from Oakes Brothers in Bradford, merchandise from Farmway in Bradford, and additional property from Undercover Tents LLC. Gilmore was also found to have an active instate warrant for his arrest.
He is currently at Northeast Regional Correctional on $10,000 bail.
Historic Burlington house catches fire
The historic Fisher House on Main St. caught fire late October 22. The Burlington Fire Department was dispatched to 308 Main St. after heavy fire was seen on a porch roof and extending to the upper floors.
Nobody was inside the building at the time. The fire was contained to the building of origin, and no surrounding structures were damaged.
The building, built in 1888 and named after its architect, consisted of eight apartments from which all residents were displaced due to the fire and water damage.
This incident involved off-duty Burlington Firefighters and fire crews from South Burlington, Colchester, Winooski, VTANG, and UVM Rescue.
The Burlington Fire Marshal’s office is conducting an investigation on the cause of this fire.
