Burlington man arrested for threatening with knives / Feces dumped on car

A man with a lengthy police record was arrested for aggravated assault after a late night incident at the intersection of Pearl Street and South WInooski Avenue Wednesday, April 10, police say.

At about 10:34 pm, officers with the Burlington Police Department responded to a report of an individual threatening someone with a knife.

When officers arrived on scene, the individual threatening someone with a knife was identified as Shawn Dudley, 37, of Burlington. Investigation revealed Dudley brandished two knives at three individuals after a brief disagreement. Dudley was taken into custody and lodged on $5,000 bail.

Dudley’s Vermont criminal history includes: 1 Violation of Court orders or conditions charge, 2 Felony charges with 1 conviction, 17 Misdemeanor charges with 3 convictions, 1 Unknown offense level charge, 3 Assaultive crime charges with 1 conviction, 1 Escape charge, and 2 Violation of probation/parole charges.

In February of 2023, Dudley was arrested after barricading himself inside his Milton home with his four-year-old son, whom he had refused to return to his wife’s custody. 

Dumps feces on car – State police say video footage from a nearby business shows a person walking north on Main St. in Enosburg Falls to the victim’s parked vehicle on the evening of April 10 at 11:38 PM. The person was wearing a hooded jacket/sweatshirt. He/she then deposited a bag with animal feces on the hood and driver’s door of the vehicle.  Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the St. Albans Field Station at 802 524 5993.

Enosburg car wash vandalized – Vermont State Police are investigating a significant act of vandalism at the Jolley Car Wash on Pearl Street in Enosburg, which occurred in the early hours of March 14. Authorities were notified of the incident on March 18 at around 3:13 p.m. The unidentified operator of a vehicle caused extensive damage to the car wash facility shortly after midnight.

Despite the late hour of the occurrence, the extent of the destruction suggests the perpetrator may have spent a considerable amount of time committing the act of unlawful mischief. They urge anyone with information to contact the St. Albans Barracks at 802-524-5993. The police have not disclosed the estimated cost of the damage to the car wash.

Art stolen from Derby home – At about 9 AM April 9, state police learned of a burglary on Mcinnis Drive in Derby. An unknown person broke into a home and took various paintings/ artwork were taken. More specific information regarding the items stolen is forthcoming. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Trooper Alford of the VSP Derby Barracks at 802-334-8881

DUI#4 – on patrol in the area of Tulip Street and South Street in Lyndon, state police saw several motor vehicle violations involving a nearby motorist. Troopers initiated a traffic stop on Jeremy Bush, 45, of Sutton. During the course of the investigation, Troopers observed Bush exhibiting several signs of impairment. He was tested, transported to the barracks, and then cited to appear in court for DUI-4 and driving with a criminally suspended license. 

Also Bush’s vehicle was transported to the Vermont State Police – St. Johnsbury Barracks pending a search warrant. During the traffic stop, Troopers identified the passenger in the vehicle to be Janita Ledoux (36) of Lyndon. She was found to be in violation of her conditions of release (5th) and was cited to appear in court.
