Burlington City Council punts on housing plan

In today’s Burlington Daily News:

The City Council punted Monday night on a complex zoning change allowing denser housing. “Let me be honest, it’s overwhelming,” says City Councilor Gene Bergman. “Anyone who would be in my situation who is not overwhelmed by the detail and the seriousness of this, is either an Einstein, or they’re fooling themselves and everybody else.” They’ll look at it again February 12.

And Karen Rowell advises the City Council it could find $1 million to reduce the city’s burdensome tax load just by cutting the diversity office, which was funded with one-time Covid-era federal revenue.
