Burlington burglar brags home easy to infiltrate

Burlington police arrested a known criminal for burglarizing a home while the residents hid upstairs, according to a police statement.

On November 23 at about 8:40 pm, Burlington Police Department received a 911 call of a burglary in progress. The caller stated they could hear yelling coming from downstairs and what sounded like glass breaking. The residents of the home hide and secure themselves in the upstairs bathroom.

Officers arrived on scene and found Charles Noss, 38, inside the living room. Noss is known to law enforcement from previous encounters. He was taken into custody and transported to the Burlington Police Department.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Noss entered the home and caused up to $10,000 in
property damage. Noss made statements that the building was easy to “infiltrate”. Noss’ criminal history revealed 1 failure to appear for court proceedings, 2 misdemeanors convictions, 1 assaultive crime charge, and two violation of probation and parole.

Noss is currently on court conditions from a previous burglary that occurred back in September. Additionally, Noss was arrested for Burglary and violation of court conditions on November 6, and lodged at Northwest Correctional Facility. On November 19, Noss was arrested again and charged with Burglary, Arson, and Violation of Court Conditions. Noss was lodged at Northwest Correctional Facility.

Noss has had 57 Law Enforcement contacts since January 2020 to November 2021. He was lodged at Northwest Correctional Facility for the current arrest and held on $5,000 bail.
