Sustains multiple injuries
A violent altercation at a Milton home on Monday, March 25 led to the arrest of a St. Albans man on multiple charges, including burglary and aggravated assault.
Police say the home was targeted by the suspect, who was also charged with being a person prohibited from possessing firearms.
According to the Milton Police Department, officers were dispatched to 57 Cornelia Court at around 12:38 p.m. following reports of an attempted home invasion with a firearm and a fight in progress.
Upon arrival, they found the individuals involved behind the residence.
Authorities identified the suspect as 37-year-old Quentin Suggs of St. Albans, who had sustained multiple injuries during the incident.
Suggs was taken by Milton Rescue to the UVM Medical Center for treatment. The investigation revealed that Suggs attempted to break into the home while armed with a firearm.
A confrontation ensued between Suggs and the occupants, leading to Suggs being overpowered and detained until law enforcement arrived.
Suggs is facing charges of burglary, aggravated assault, and being a person prohibited from possessing firearms.
He was ordered held without bail and remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections, hospitalized at the UVM Medical Center as he receives treatment for his injuries.
His arraignment won’t be Suggs’ only scheduled court appearance in Vermont this year. In April, he was scheduled to appear, as the defendant, in a child support hearing. He was charged with a DUI in South Burlington four years ago.
An online search shows that 57 Cornelia Court is occupied by a former standout high school athlete now employed as a nurse at UVMMC.
A Milton Police Department Facebook post has elicited 65 comments as of Wednesday morning, with most reading like this one by a former police officer: “Good job Milton P.D. and the home owners! This idiot is lucky all he got was a beat down! Hopefully other bad actors will think twice about coming to Milton!”
St. J man stabbed multiple times – A 32-year-old local man is in stable condition after a stabbing incident that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday.
The Vermont State Police reported to the scene on Avenue A near New Boston Road just after 3:20 a.m. where they found the victim with multiple stab wounds.
The injured man was initially taken to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital before being transferred to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, for further treatment.
Authorities have not made any arrests, and the investigation is ongoing. Detectives are treating the stabbing as an isolated event and believe there is no ongoing danger to the community. The identity of the victim is being withheld as investigations continue and family members are notified.
