State police have invoked a 2023 harrassment by telephone law to cite a Corinth woman and animal advocate for making 23 abusive phone calls to the Town of Washington’s animal control officer.
On October 9, state police were notified by Washington Animal Control Officer Robert Lowe, 55 that Danielle Graves, 42 of Corinth had called him about 23 times on his home phone, asking him to perform lewd acts. The next day Graves met with Troopers and was issued a citation to appear in court Dec. 4 to answer to the offense of Disturbing the Peace by Use of Telephone.
The 2023 law says “an intent to terrify, threaten, harass, or annoy may be inferred from the use of obscene, lewd, lascivious, or indecent language or the making of a threat or statement or repeated telephone calls or other electronic communications.”
The state police report does not state the nature of Graves’ beef with Lowe. Graves’ Facebook page shows the logo of Vermonters Against Animal Abuse and Abandonment, which denies affiliation with her. For her birthday she requested FB friends donate to Vermont English Bulldog Rescue.
