Arther Butler, 24, pleaded no contest on Friday to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and simple assault on a law enforcement officer in November 2023 when he attacked a Barre City Police Department officer with a long knife.

He has been in custody since his arraignment in December 2023. His sentence of 40 months to 10 years in the St. Johnsbury shooting has since been imposed. He will remain under supervision for five to six years.
Georgia crash kills seven people
A vehicle transporting 37 cats to a shelter in Vermont was one of several involved in a horrific interstate crash in Georgia that killed seven people yesterday, reports WMUR-TV.

The crash started when a tractor-trailer struck a van, starting a fire which killed all seven people inside that van. The initial collision started a chain reaction crash.

An animal shelter in Atlanta said one of its transport van drivers was injured in the resulting chain reaction. In the chaos, many of the cats fled, but at least 32 of the animals had since been recovered.
