Vax mandate back at UVMMC

No exemption for natural immunity permitted at hospital suffering ’emergency staffing situation’

Following the U.S. Supreme Court decision Thursday, Jan. 13 allowing the federal directive requiring Covid-19 vaccination at all health care facilities receiving Medicare funds, the University of Vermont Medical Center said – again – it will require all workers not qualifying for exemptions to become vaccinated or face termination. There will be no exception for natural immunity.

However, the CMS policy allows some exemptions under which an employee may continue working, provided they undergo testing.

“As we have previously made clear, we intend to comply with the federal government’s mandatory vaccination policy,” UVMMC spokesperson Neal Goswami told Vermont Daily Chronicle today. “We continue to strongly encourage employees to get vaccinated. As an academic health system, we know that the data and science show that vaccines work to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus and prevents severe illness, hospitalization and death. Vaccination is the strongest tool we have toward ending this pandemic.”

UVMMC currently faces an “emergency staffing situation,” with many workers out sick and patient census growing due to Omicron and other factors, the head of nursing told all nurses in a recent memo.

UVMMC had announced Nov. 11 it would fully comply with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) rule titled Omnibus COVID-19 Health Care Staff Vaccination, published Nov. 5 in the Federal Register. However, a subsequent federal court decision held up the CMS ruling, forcing UVMMC to pause its vax mandate until yesterday’s decision.

“As an academic health system, we rely on data, research and science to keep our patients healthy and save lives. We have been clear about the fact that vaccination is how we protect each other and our patients from COVID-19 and end this pandemic and we intend to comply with this policy. We are grateful to the overwhelming majority of our employees who have already been vaccinated,” Goswami said Nov. 11.

The Nov. 5 federal rule specifically prohibits exceptions for:

  1. Unvaccinated employees testing weekly. “We have reviewed scientific evidence on testing and found that vaccination is a more effective infection control measure. As such, we chose not to require such testing for now but welcome comment,” the rule says. However, some permitted exemptions are allowed provided the employee undergoes testing.

Natural immunity. This exception was rejected because it would have “complicated administration and likely require standards that do not now exist for reliably measuring the declining levels of antibodies over time in relation to risk of reinfection.”

  1. The Below statement is absolute B.S.! Real science shows it does not stop the spread of “Covid” nor does it prevent severe illness…If anything, it causes real illness vs-a-vis, blood-clots, heart attacks, Bell’s-Palsy, etc…And that’s only what we know from a limited time span…It is definitely not the only tool as has been uncovered by Project Veritas regarding the (DARPA) suppression of potential curatives, like Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine… People should be getting criminally charged over matters like this…But of course the Dem’s hold the power and the minority are sitting on their hands going along with the charade….And tyranny takes further steps forward.

“We continue to strongly encourage employees to get vaccinated. As an academic health system, we know that the data and science show that vaccines work to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus and prevents severe illness, hospitalization and death. Vaccination is the strongest tool we have toward ending this pandemic.”……….B.S.!!!!

  2. Ooooo. I have a great idea! Why not just allow Covid infected vaxed staff to work like they’re now doing in other states? That way you can keep all those “dangerous” unvaxed workers out, especially the ones with natural immunity!

This would all be hilarious if it wasn’t so sad. We have lost our minds.

  3. I just wonder if the people who mandate these things are paying for the ammo they keep shooting themselves in the foot with, or is someone else supplying it ?

  4. Meanwhile I listened to a senior research scientist at MIT, Stephanie Seneff, Ph.D., plead with parents just last night to not vaccinate their children. The ‘spike protein’ manipulation is proving to have far-reaching, long-term, adverse effects, not only on their immune system, but on their neurological development as well. And if it affects kids this way, what are we to think about how it affects the rest of us?

The real tyranny in all of this is the blanket legal liability protection the medical community has because the experimental vaccine protocols are assigned under ‘Emergency Use Authorization’. And to force people to take these vaccines or lose their jobs is an unspeakable affront to our liberty and freedom, which has nothing to do with their safety. Let them choose their own poison.

  5. check out this video—https://unifiedgrassroots.com/statement-regarding-jan…/… They are trying to stop it from coming out but everyone needs to see this. The truth about the shots and everyone needs to know this. I hope it comes through.

  6. If illegal immigrants are allowed to enter the U.S., and travel and work wherever they wish without being subject to the same COVID mandates American citizens are, why can’t unvaccinated and untested medical workers work wherever they wish under the same standards that are applied to illegal immigrants?

  7. Then nobody better complain about a staff shortage. These people worked with out any vaccines during the most dangerous time of Covid. And now these draconian mandates are being implemented for no scientific reason at all.

  8. “Natural immunity. This exception was rejected because it would have “complicated administration and likely require standards that do not now exist for reliably measuring the declining levels of antibodies over time in relation to risk of reinfection.”
Oh BUT gettIng the “EXPERIMENTAL” jab that we have no long term data for is SOOOOO much better than natural immunity?!? REALLY!!!! what kind of B.S. is this!

  9. Appears the largest medical facility in the State is no longer a medical facility – it’s a politically compromised medical experimentation facility.

  10. We need a class action lawsuit holding all those representing the state of Vermont or public health authorities responsible for their coercion tactics and beyond.
