Letter: Old-fashioned treatments the best

To the Editor:

I’m a 64-year-old woman who has been completely unafraid of this virus and has been going about my business unvaxxed and mostly unmasked for 2 years and no one is interested in how I’ve stayed healthy. No one! It’s quite amazing. I keep thinking someone will say: Wow! What‘s your secret?! But, no. I’ve been discriminated against and punished and treated like a complete alien for 2 years—for the crime of being healthy and knowing how to take care of myself.

Anyway, here’s my secret: All of that mucosal tissue around the eyes, inside the nose, inside the throat, it’s the first line of defense of the immune system and it can all be ‘washed’ just like one’s hands. The easiest way I have found to do it (and this was a suggestion from my own GP once) is to put a pot of water on the stove, get it simmering, put my head over it, and breathe the steam through my nose, into my mouth, deep into my lungs—for like only a minute, but repeatedly, if need be. I have an ionizer in my bedroom that I’ll turn on and sit in front of for the same reasons (the beginning of an itchy nose or a scratchy throat). But, if you don’t have an ionizer, I read that colliding molecules create negative ions, so apparently you get that benefit along with the heat and humidity of the steam to soothe and ‘clean’ all of that tissue.

But, I’ve done it the moment I’ve felt the least bit dodgy: If I came home from a shopping trip with a slightly scratchy throat. If I woke up in the middle of the night coughing, I would drag myself to the kitchen and do it. Or get up and turn on my ionizer for a little while.

Rinsing your eyes or nose with a saline nasal spray or contact lens saline solution is also helpful. Gargling with hot, salt water, too. My surgeon-Dad would yell at us to go do it all the time when we were kids, when we were sick with a cold. And my Mom would drag out the big glass jar vaporizer… The medical world now calls that a nebulizer. And you don’t need to buy one or spend any money. Simple, simple, old-fashioned stuff… Apparently most doctors have either forgotten this or never learned it in the first place.

I am utterly gob-smacked by the doctors and public health officials who can’t speak in a more meaningful way about maintaining a healthy immune system than: masks, social distancing, and vaccines. I maintain steadfastly that this pandemic has been managed for maximum fear, maximum stress, maximum pollution, and hence—maximum illness.

One last bit of advice: Do not walk around with a mask on outside! Take every opportunity to get fresh air into your lungs.

  1. Thank you Jacqueline for sharing such sound advice. I recently tried to share similar information on FPF and was sensored. FPF stated that they will only publish information that mirrors CDC, Vermont Health Department or WHO guidelines. I asked who authored this censorship and they refused to respond.

    I have also used saline solution, and gargling with salt water. I read that you can also gargle with one part hydrogen peroxide and 3 parts water. Although, the solution can not be swallowed.

  2. I agree being 62 and I do have a hand held nebulizer I use with hydrogen peroxide and sea salt along with the traditional vit C, Zinc and a few other good vitamins. And please don’t wear the mask folks it will make you sicker! Get outside and breathe some air.

  3. Well let me try this again lol. Agreed totally and big pharma has their pockets in all of this and will be taken down I do believe. I do use peroxide and sea salt in a hand held nebulizer along with other vitamins and local remedies like Chaga I have on hand. Please don’t wear a mask it’s well documented that it will make you sick! Get outside even if it’s cold and breathe.

  4. Johnny Walker has helped me thru a cold or two…Helped get my wife in a family way a time or two as well. .Also helped with my dancing and courting skills when I was younger, which led me to that wife’s family way thing….

    SLEEP!

    Our bodies are miracles. Clean air, fresh food, minimal booze and a good nights sleep. Much more important than any fake vaxxes.

  7. I’ve been attacked viciously by a few people for sharing this information. Hard to figure… I think it’s the ultimate creative act—figuring out a way to stay healthy in a time of pandemic, that requires almost zero effort and zero money! (Except for the money I spent years ago on my little ionizer, and my drug of choice lately—a bottle of wonderful elderberry syrup made locally.)

    I know at least 3 people who are all vaxxed and boosted and who have recently been sick with Covid. And one of those people ripped me apart this week, calling me totally arrogant. I’m not entirely certain about what sent her into a frenzy, but I think it was because I shared the link to my letter above.

    • I am sorry to hear that you have been attacked by the community. I read your post and have been using similar remedies, as recommend by my allergist and other doctors to fight chronic sinusitis and allergy induced asthma, during the winter months. People are so traumatized by fear, thanks to endless propaganda and fear mongering of local and national Corp media entities and Vermont’s political leaders, that they are mentally unstable, unable to think critically and volatile.
