“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism,’ they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” US Socialist Party six-time presidential candidate, Norman Thomas, February 26, 1967, The Spokesman Review, Spokane, Washington.
“I myself don’t use the word socialism,” Bernie told a reporter for the Vermont Cynic, a UVM student newspaper, in 1976, “because people have been brainwashed into thinking socialism automatically means slave-labor camps, dictatorship, and lack of freedom of speech.” Socialism, of course, doesn’t begin with “slave labor camps, dictatorship and lack of freedom of speech,” yet, they have been working for some time inside our re-education camps (public school systems). Censorship of our First Amendment Rights has been a left-wing hallmark since the Clinton and Obama Administrations, pushed by their public relations office, the American media.
Bernie’s minor-league, southpaw curveball was high and far-out in 1976, but it was just a matter of time before he and his supercilious kind would reach the majors. With a questionable election producing a pliable, puppet president, socialism has finally become a serious threat to our 245-year-old democracy.
This has become possible through their alt-left, minor-league affiliated re-education camps, our school system, but principally, the universities and colleges. Since the late sixties, liberal socio-political narratives and revisionist histories have been emerging, evolving, and normalizing. Atheistic socialism comes masquerading in sexy and seductive guises knitted out of benevolent- progressive-social justice.
“Give me just one generation of youth and I’ll transform the world.” – Vladimir Lenin
In 1989, Bernie was interviewed by Catherine Alison Hill, a Cornell student writing her master’s thesis on socialism. “Socialism has a lot of different messages to different people,” Sanders explained. “I think the issue of socialist ideology and what that means is not terribly important…. The negative of it obviously is that there are people who equate it with totalitarianism and the Soviet Union.”
Bernie always seems to refer back to such lurid and unjust caricatures of the harsh Soviet Union and Cuban gulags in referencing Middle America’s “brainwashed” lack of sophisticated socio-political comprehension. Maybe, some Americans, especially us Green Mountain woodchucks, just cannot comprehend this sophisticated socialism stuff. One urbane New Yorker’s proper, persuasive, progressive propaganda can sure put a Bern on a Yankee forest ripe with simple folk. Make sure you start the misinformation campaign in Burlington and Montpelier where more edacated, free-thinkin’ city folk read words gooder than you and I, and vote smart-like, I reckon.
According to Russian-American writer, Ayn Rand (The Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged), “There is no difference between communism and socialism, except in the means of achieving the same ultimate end: communism proposes to enslave men by force, social-ism-by vote. It is merely the difference between murder and suicide.” You will rarely see such damaging and delinquent words, even in a dinky letter-to-the-editor, in the Free Press, Times-Argus, Vermont Digger or 7 Daze.
Where, when, and with whom will Vermont students read about socialism’s psychopathic and genocidal dark side? Pop-hipster books like Howard Zinn’s fabulous revisionist fable, The People’s History of the United States, are pushed like so much patchouli-rubbed, reefer-affected- anti-American political-paradise-preaching propaganda to our impressionable youth.
“Progressivism is the cancer in America and it is eating our Constiution,” says Glenn Beck, “and it was designed to eat the Constitution, to progress past the Constitution.”
“Contemporary progressivism is the new communism with a twist,” writes Dr. Thomas Horn in his 2021 book, Zeitgeist, 2025. “It is a social and political movement that promotes unreason and irrationality through the guise of various social justice causes.” Spilling out of the Progressive Trojan Horse’s wicker-belly come social justice warriors weaned and “brain-washed” on the pathology of alt-left political science. It is a simple communist recipe: Socialism, anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, anti-Zionism, and atheism are cool and In, while, patriotism, our white slave-owning, founding fathers, inherently racist law and order system, too much freedom of speech, and gun ownership must be canceled for an elegant and inclusive, brave, new, idyllic society without nations, borders, flags, and self-defense. “Come On, Man!”
“Nations do not die from invasion,” stated Abraham Lincoln. “They die from internal rottenness.”
Presidential candidate, and hero to Bernie Sanders, Eugene Debs (1845-1926) said, “Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel. The most heroic word in all languages is revolution.”
Regarding his favorite American Communist, Eugene Debs, Sanders once said, “You reach a certain age when you start reading reasonably widely, and you find ideas that reflect your gut feeling about something. …I had that feeling when I first read Eugene Debs. If you read what Debs said about the goals of socialism, it’s no different from what I’ve been saying – that socialism is about democracy.”
