Woman dies in wrong-way I-91 drunk driver accident

A Waitsfield woman is suspected of DUI-Death Resulting after a Tuesday afternoon crash on I-91 in Windsor that killed a 59-year-old Rockingham woman, police say.

Tuesday at 4:30 pm, Vermont State Police were notified of a 2015 Nissan Rogue operated by Sarah Love, 34, of Waitsfield, driving erratically on Interstate 91 south of White River Junction. A short time later, the vehicle turned around and began driving north in the southbound lane. Love’s car collided with a 2013 Fiat driven by Rosemary Reynolds, 34, of Greenfield MA, and a 1991 Chevy Cavalier driven by Kathleen Spence, 59, of Rockingham.

Love sustained head injuries, Reynolds had minor injuries, and Spence was pronounced dead at the scene after her car sustained heavy front end damage.

An investigation revealed that Love was impaired by alcohol. She was arrested for suspicion of DUI. She was transported to MT. Ascutney Hospital for an medical evaluation. The early stages of the investigation indicate Love committed the crimes of gross negligent operation with death resulting and DUI with death resulting.

Hartford Fatal – Another woman died three days earlier in Windsor County on the Interstate highway. On Nov. 20, at about 5 pm, state police were notified of a vehicle that left the roadway into the tree line at a high rate of speed on Interstate 89 in the town of Hartford. Upon arrival, the operator was found deceased inside of the vehicle. The operator was identified as Louis Blair of South Hadley, MA.
