Sec State spokesperson: Vermont Dominion voting machines “much older model than those being called into question by the conspiracy theorists”

Vermont uses vote tabulation machines manufactured by Dominion, Deputy Secretary of State Chris Winters told Vermont Daily today. However they are older models than the machines now under scrutiny in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, he said.

This morning, Vermont Daily emailed Winters the following question: “As you know, Dominion is in the news as the target of president Trump’s complaint about election integrity.” He was asked to explain any connection with Dominion and Vermont’s election process.

Winters’ 4:37 pm emailed response is printed verbatim below:

“Much is being said about Dominion in the news. Vermont, along with dozens of other states, both red and blue, does use their voting equipment (tabulators). The tabulators we use are a much older model than those being called into question by the conspiracy theorists. Our machines are provided to us through our trusted long-time elections partner LHS.

Chris Winters

“You can find detailed responses to the various unfounded and false accusations about Dominion on their website at www.dominionvoting.com.

“LHS has been the Dominion vendor in New England for nine years. As part of their service they complete state level certifications of their equipment, have conducted thousands of elections with successful outcomes and have seen recounts and random audits prove their equipment and software to be secure and accurate.

“The claims against Dominion and its software are categorically false and have been disproved as such.

“Secretary Condos has been candid and direct about this: spreading disinformation by peddling conspiracy theories with zero evidence of any elections process abnormalities is an absolute danger to democracy, and only serves to weaken voter confidence in the integrity of our elections and their dutifully arrived at results.

“Healthy skepticism is something that every public official should welcome, but baseless allegations of vote tampering that are only made to discredit legitimate election results are not acceptable.

“The President’s claims are patently false and have been disproven. Disparaging the fair elections process, and the hard-working election officials conducting it, with zero evidence is irresponsible and insulting to those election officials, including our town clerks.

“Vermont tabulators are programmed and tested by our long-time, trusted election vendor. They are certified, audited, and follow a strict chain of custody which ensures they are never connected to the internet or to each other. Every ballot cast in Vermont is done so on a voter-marked paper ballot that is sealed and stored for 22 months following the election, and we conduct a post-Election audit after every General Election, which has never turned up any results abnormalities.

“Vermonters should feel confident in the integrity and security of our elections. We have the evidence to back that up.”

Readers are invited to comment to Vermont Daily and recommend serious, informed follow-up questions to Winters’ comments and about the Dominion controversy in general.

    • Please explain how the President’s claims have been “disproven.” An honest person would welcome an audit for the sake of transparency.

  1. I am incensed that because we Vermont American Taxpayers ask questions, we are called “conspiracy theorists” How dare this mouth piece and the SOS say that. THEY need to remember THEY work for us. And we have questions. NOTHING has been debunked, and the only thing that is patently false is the claim that their computer are so old they aren’t capable of fraud??? I doubt that. WE the PEOPLE of Vermont want to see the proof. And how about THIS TIME you not call Vermonters names?

This is true?? “Vermont tabulators are programmed and tested by our long-time, trusted election vendor. They are certified, audited, and follow a strict chain of custody which ensures they are never connected to the internet or to each other. Every ballot cast in Vermont is done so on a voter-marked paper ballot that is sealed and stored for 22 months following the election, and we conduct a post-Election audit after every General Election, which has never turned up any results abnormalities.”

THEN POST THE RESULTS. Instead of calling the people of this state names. SHAME ON YOU>

    C Geddis

    • Amen! I was coming on to write that very statement. They work for us and if we don’t believe their bull and comply with their narrative we are considered conspiracists. They think they can guilt us or threaten us to comply when in reality they just piss us off even more.

  2. Somehow This News Doesn’t Instill Any Voter Confidence !

Secretary of State Jim Condos’ Lackey Informs that Vermont Uses Dominion Machine, but Don’t Worry “Our Machines are Much Older Pieces of Crap Than the Ones Currently Under Scrutiny !”

No statement about the vulnerability (access, reprogramming, “back doors,” trapdoors) of the “older” machines. Generally older computer equipment is more susceptible to hacking and manipulation – not less so !

    • Mr. Winters is rude and condescending. He thinks we are all stupid. He should apologize for the words he used here.

That said, Mr. Winters, these machines are programed for each election, regardless of the age of the machine. In the updated software fraudulent algorithms can be placed creating wrong or corrupt outcomes. Every voting machine is programed for each election. Plus, these are “older machines” and they are high susceptible to error and problems.

Further, any candidate, including President Trump has a right and a responsibility to have every legal vote counted in the way it is voted by the voters. No machine should change a persons vote because of corruption.

Lastly, we have no confidence in you, Condos nor in a government run by Progs/Dems.

  4. So they have been using this system in New England for NINE YEARS?!? Does this give anyone else chills? Think of what has happened just in VT politics during that time. In this “conspiracy theorist’s” eyes, everything that has happened is in question. I fear for our republic when you have a demonstrably corrupt voting system being used for so long.

  5. Please add my name to the list of those incensed by the knee-jerk characterization of those voicing skepticism on how our current State administrators conduct themselves. The only real conspiracy theory is that there are no conspiracies. These characterizations are nothing short of the continued Orwellian and not-so-subtle attack on our free speech.

  6. That may be so about the voting machine but tell me how Bernie Sanders got to Washington and now our “Republican” govenor voted for Joe Biden. I thought Vermont was a conservative Republican state>

    • Sanders got to Washington because Vermont’s great liberal thinkers like being lied to . . . over and over and over again.

      • One main reason Sanders got to Washington is because he came here from NY and brainwashed all the college kids–turned them into activists–and went from there. I’d hate to see what special place in hell he’ll have. Excuse me for saying that but what else can you say about someone who has almost singlehandedly changed the God-given blessings & freedoms of America by teaching young vulnerable people lies about how great socialism is. They are frightened and totally indoctrinated against the very foundations of America. Then Bernie became rich on his lies which is the opposite of what he had brainwashed people with. Such evil!

  7. Methinks the gentleman (Chris Winters) protests too much! Raises rather than applies balm on our suspicions— which ARE substantiated.

  8. Can Deputy Secretaries of State be impeached? They are cramming the same old lies upon us that the governance of the Dem Party puts out. First off, these Dominion machines were first started in Venezuela to change votes so Chavez would win. How many years ago was that? As we see daily, these accusations have a solid base, and people have signed affidavits accordingly. They certainly have NOT been disproven.
There is plenty of evidence of foul play and if you want more proof, check out Hammer and Scorecard, another mechanism used to change votes. Sorry, Deputy Secretary and Secretary, you need to understand we are not going to be shut up anymore by your discrediting our questions and your attempts to ‘invalidate’ us!

    • I agree with Kathy. The Dominion system was invented by China and Chavez’ people so that Chavez could continually be re-elected year after year. Same thing with Maduro. So saying that we’ve used Dominion for nine years is really frightening. We evidently have the original machines by Chris Winters’ own admission, that change votes. How many years have we had to sacrifice to the far Left wing liberals (starting with Bernie who is now mentoring AOC & Biden in WA–yikes!). With this equipment, they are changing the face of America for control, power, & wealth to become part of a NWO (New World Order). Chris is geatly deceived as are too many.

  9. “You can find detailed responses to the various unfounded and false accusations about Dominion on their website at http://www.dominionvoting.com.” So, are we to trust the company’s assessment of their own systems without an independent, unbiased investigation? I don’t think we would take the word of too many criminals who say they didn’t do it, when accused of a crime. If concern about voter fraud is a conspiracy theory, what have they got to lose by investigating it and proving it so? No one is implying that our election officials and town clerks did anything wrong. This is beyond them. The modus operandi of the left seems to be to either bury any news they don’t like, or try to discredit the messenger as a liar or conspiracy theorist. We need to hear both sides and get to the truth in all things.

  10. I suspect that incompetence breeds a false sense of due diligence. We were told that our online ballot information was secure. Was Mr. Lynch also a conspiracy theorist? Turns out he was correct that our state officials DID NOT perform their due diligence to protect our personal information. Find another vendor!

  11. Senators Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobochar, Ron Wyden, and Rep Mark Pocan wrote to the hedge fund that owns Dominion in November 2019 out of concern for the security of our elections. The letter reads in part, “Election security experts have noted for years that our nation’s election systems and infrastructure are under serious threat. In January 2017, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security designated the United States’ election infrastructure as “critical infrastructure” in order to prioritize the protection of our elections and to more effectively assist state and local election officials in addressing these risks. However, voting machines are reportedly falling apart across the country, as vendors neglect to innovate and improve important voting systems, putting our elections at avoidable and increased risk. In 2015, election officials in at least 31 states, representing approximately 40 million registered voters, reported that their voting machines needed to be updated, with almost every state “using some machines that are no longer manufactured.” Moreover, even when state and local officials work on replacing antiquated machines, many continue to “run on old software that will soon be outdated and more vulnerable to hackers.” The full letter is on Warren’s offical web page. https://www.warren.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/H.I.G.%20McCarthy,%20&%20Staple%20Street%20letters.pdf

  12. Since I have witnessed election fraud myself, occurring prior to conspiracy nut Condos administration, I am very much aware the election fraud is a problem in Vermont and has been for some time. The infection began with the soviet poster child Bernie Sanders and will take many years to cure. At least the people in the Northeast Kingdom, who voted for a sane president, have managed to dump hempster John Rodgers and stave off the wretched Martha Allen. Time for the rest of Vermont to follow that kind of example.

  13. As an active observer of Vermont politics I have wondered why the political pendulum has not swung in the opposite direction for the past decade. One massive policy failure after another by the same career Democrat politicians resulting in ever increasing taxation and the Vermont voter never holds them accountable?

    • Because it broke loose at the zenith of its leftward swing and rocketed right out the State House window, was picket up by the Democratic/Progressive cabal and hidden in the basement of vtdigger’s basement bunker on State Street !

  14. Just read this as part of an article on Judicial Watch: “Judicial Watch announced that a September 2020 study revealed that 353 U.S. counties had 1.8 million more registered voters than eligible voting-age citizens. In other words, the registration rates of those counties exceeded 100% of eligible voters. The study found eight states showing state-wide registration rates exceeding 100%: Alaska, Colorado, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Vermont.” Huh, I wonder what the average age of our voters is here in our “brave little state”? In one of the other states the average age is 125, due to dead people voting. Incensed doesn’t even begin to cover what I’m feeling, but it’s close enough for polite society.

  15. Is there any way to check and visibly see our vote went to the party it was intended for?? I am not at ease and will not take the word of any rep…. conspiracy theories? Put the peoples minds to rest and allow transparency… DOMINION in New England scares me

    • Yes. In Vermont there is a protocol for auditing, but it has to be ordered by a judge or candidate. Or after 22 months you can hand audit, as I have done. Frustrating process. The votes are hand marked and (for the most part) scanned.

  16. Sooooo, should all of us candidates get together to contest the election?
Do Democrats really outnumber Republicans 2:1?
And why did the Associated Press call Peter Welch’s victory over me before the count even started on 11/3?
    “Asking for a friend.”

    • Miriam, perhaps you have a thought there. How many candidates want to challenge the vote? I met so many pro-right people on the campaign trail that I was surprised that we didn’t win (no one in Essex, Chittenden 8-1).

    • It was all rigged, and yes, All of us Vermonters should request an audit. I can tell you, I know alot of people in this State, who also know alot of people, who also know alot of people, all voted for Red, there is No Way Bkue won the Presidency in VT.

    • I think everyone in Vermont should contest the election, especially in light of the overwhelming evidence of widespread voter and election fraud being uncovered by Sidney Powell, Lin Wood, Rudy Giuliani, Jenna Ellis, etc. It doesn’t really matter if the Dominion voting machines are older because they were designed to rig elections for Hugo Chavez. I am wondering if votes were ‘gifted’ to each Democratic candidate here in Vermont as they were in Arizona and Georgia??

  17. It may not matter how old the Dominion Tabulators are in Vermont. If they use software that gets updated, there is still a chance that the algorithm to flip votes could still be present. How can we find out? Can we have an audit in Vermont? How do concerned citizens move forward? Should we all be calling Condos’ office? Do we need a lawyer to proceed? What happens next?

  18. I wrote the bill prohibiting e-voting in VT. It was made law, thanks to Bill Doyle, that same session. I could not prevail in the bid to mandate a hand count. LHS could make a scanner whistle Dixie. I have met with them and they say that they welcome auditing and examination of the equipment, which I could not find anyone to do. To say that LHS is trustworthy in its maintenance of equipment is a naive leap of faith. There have been some striking anomalies over the years that have gone unchallenged. We did, however, hand count the votes in Waterbury and found the scanned count to perfectly match.
The scanner we previously used in VT under SoS Deb Markowitz, was the version that flipped many thousands of votes to Bush in Florida. (They got caught and the fraudulent count was rectified – hence the long contest to count the votes correctly). And hence my activism. Good questions from those commenting.
Personally, I don’t believe the Venezuela tale. It is being brought forth to legitimize certain measures used by the plaintiffs to rectify the vote. I wish they another whistle-blower with a better story. Election fraud is as American as apple pie, and for once, let’s catch the rats who do it.

  19. Dominion machines no matter how old are rigged!! And may I mention, the past 9 years is the amount of years that are about to be exposed as major fraud with these machines! Do you homework Vermonters! Watch NEWSMAX, THE REAL TRUE NEWS AND FACTS. YOU WILL ALL SEE, GOD IS IN CONTROL!

  20. “Fraud” is the intentional misrepresentation of material facts. It comes in many shapes and sizes, and can be an act of commission or omission. “No one is above the law” is an oft-cited refrain from the virtue-signaling crowd on the left; however, do they practice what they preach? Not so much. No better example of this is there than the slip-shod way this election cycle’s state-wide mail-in votes were handled, under SOS guidance. Here’s what I mean: There are four items of information voters are required {by Vermont statutory law, and/or the administrative rules that flow therefrom} to include on the “Certificate” portion of the envelope containing the voted ballot: 1. Town of voter’s residency, 2. Voter’s printed name, 3. Voter’s signature, and 4. Date. In theory, the absence of this information, in whole or in part, can render a ballot “Defective” and, as such, NOT COUNTED! After all, we must follow the law, right? Especially here in Vermont where we don’t have voter ID, nor any method to verify a “signature” – whatever that may look like – is that of the registered voter. But, alas, not according to SOS! As we encountered these problems during early processing of mail-in ballots, our Town Clerk was told by SOS office staff that the only thing required on the “Certificate” was the “signature,” and even that didn’t have to be legible! Exceptions to a rule often becomes the rule is a lesson I learned a long time ago. As an election official (JP), I objected strongly to such blatant disregard for the law, to no avail. So, dear reader, was there “fraud” in this election? Tip of an iceberg, perhaps? You decide.
