‘Liberty & Justice for All’ or ‘Black Lives Matter’ – which is more exclusive?

To the editor:

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for ALL.”.

I suppose in this time of “cancel culture” these words have been dissected, interpreted, bastardized, and deemed to be racist/facist, or otherwise out of step with political correctness as we understand it in 2020. What is next? Is the guarantee of the 1st Amendment only for those who turn a blind eye to, or approve of vandalism, and assaults committed under the guise of a social awakening ? What is it about “Liberty and Justice for All, that is counter to “Black Lives Matter?” If one of these statements were to be deemed to be “exclusive,” which one would it be ?

So what is the problem with all people reaffirming an oath to our country at this time in particular. With all that is going on these days we still have hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people who want to come here and become Americans. Until this fact turns around I have to come to the conclusion that no matter what problems we may have, we still live in the greatest country on earth. To those who dispute this I would ask them to show me the proof that Americans are disavowing their citizenship here, and moving to China, Russia, Sweden or Denmark, or anywhere else in anywhere near the numbers that people are coming here.

Until then, God Bless America,

Pat Finnie
