10 years for enticing to produce porn

A South Burlington man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for attempting to entice a minor to produce child sexual abuse materials, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Vermont announced Tuesday.

Jason McGrath, 45, received a 120-month sentence from U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Lanthier, followed by 10 years of supervised release. McGrath had previously pleaded guilty and has been in custody since his plea.

According to federal prosecutors, McGrath used an online messaging app to offer money to obtain original child sexual abuse materials and sent payments to multiple users. He received images involving a child as young as 8, investigators said.

Court records also state he exchanged more than 1,800 messages with another individual, coaching the person on how to abuse an 11-year-old girl and requesting photos.
